We provide foreign language immersion programs in Spanish, French, Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, or English for Preschool, Kindergarten, and Elementary school-age children.

Some of our students are completely new to the foreign language, while others come from households where one or both parents are bilingual. In either case, our programs will help your child easily transition into one or more languages.

We have two locations in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area in downtown San Mateo and Belmont, and we offer you the world when it comes to teaching your child a foreign language. We serve multiple communities in the Peninsula, including Foster City, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Hillsdale, Belmont, San Carlos, Redwood Shores, and Redwood City.

Our Methodology

Our “Full Body Immersion” methodology incorporates both mind and body into the learning process. We believe students develop at greater levels when learning activities include a physical component which stimulates brain development.

Using our methodology, we actively immerse the student into the new language by using simple language constructs to describe an actual situation. "I am playing with a ball" the child may say while he or she is actually playing with a ball.

The immersion approach to teaching a second language maximizes the time students get to practice the language they are learning without being slowed down by having to translate what they hear and speak. The central characteristic of immersion is the teaching of language, content, and culture without the use of the student's first language.

Our Philosophy

Universe of Colors is a center built on the philosophy that children learn, develop and grow through fun and creative activities. Our programs are aimed at developing the emotional, intellectual and social independence of the child in a creative, warm and stimulating environment.

Because of our small class sizes, each child's needs are taken into account from an emotional, intellectual and social standpoint. This lets them develop with a new language at their own pace in a caring, immersive environment, all while having fun!

We fundamentally believe children learn by doing, interacting, and expressing. As such, our programs are structured to make play an educational process and an effective tool for language, social and intellectual development, all while having fun.
